The moments that excites me as a foodie are when I discovered something new to eat. I'm at Gilani Grill House named after Gilan, a province in North Iran where this dish comes from. The main character here is Ashbal, a special fish roe, kind of like mentaiko. It's served with rice, kebab, and bunch of side dishes like Persian green salt, fava beans, a tangy herb stew to mix and match. While cutlery is an option, the traditional way is to eat with your hands. So we were like, why not? It was fun and I felt like the food tastes better this way.
