For the grand finale of our honeymoon, my husband and I headed to Florence, Italy, where I bought so much leather I worried my husband was going to divorce me. Besides the amazing leather, Florence is packed with some of the finest food in history I've ever encountered. We began our trip by visiting the famous Galleria dell'Accademia to see none other than the statue of David, which is a lot bigger and more impressive than it looks online. After gawking at David's chiseled abs and tush, we toured the rest of the museum and learned about Florence's rich and fascinating history. Founded as a Roman colony in 59 BC, Florence became a trade and finance hub in the Middle Ages and peaked during the 15th century Renaissance under the Medici family. During this time, legends like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo flourish. So it makes sense that Florence is still packed with artists from all around the world who take to the streets to perform daily. Speaking of artists, after the Galleria, we stopped in one of the world's most famous leather stores, Ben Hart, and we're fortunate enough to meet Ben himself. Ben is one of Italy's most well-known leather designers, and he creates the highest quality leather products I've ever encountered. I bought so many of his products that we had to buy an extra suitcase to bring home. To be totally honest, I think I may have a shopping problem. Next, we explored the Duomo or Florence Cathedral, which you cannot miss even if you try to. I actually got lost walking around it and spent an hour trying to find my husband. It's known around the world for its size and beauty and has a rich history starting from when it was first designed by Italian architect Filippo Brunelleschi in the 13th century. In short, Florence was a honeymoon dream come true and my suitcase full of leather goods completely agrees.
