We're just 70 miles off the coast of Florida, but we're in a different country. This is West End, Grand Bahama. West End is the oldest town and westernmost settlement on Grand Bahama Island, which is a long, narrow island just 70 miles off the coast of Florida. West End is the capital of Grand Bahama Island and is known for its beautiful scenery, crystal blue oceans, and unique history. To be honest, I've been here for three days and refused to leave, so if you can't find me in Florida, I'll probably be lying on the beach here, just three shades darker than I am. was when i left anyways west end is known for some illegal activities that went down during the prohibition era in the u.s which took place in the 1920s into the early 1930s during the u.s prohibition the government essentially banned people from producing importing and selling alcohol so if you wanted to get wild on a saturday night with some booze it just wasn't happening this is where west end came in the small western settlement gained fame as a rum running port with warehouses distilleries bars and supply stores popping up everywhere so People from the U.S. went to West End to party rage and to get alcohol to bring back. In fact, people were so desperate to get booze in the U.S. from West End that whiskey prescriptions started to pop up that basically said, my doctor said I need to drink. Today, West End still goes hard with alcohol. If you like drinking, you will not be disappointed. And if you like getting blackout drunk, be sure to try the painkiller, which is a drink that I don't know what's in it, but it's just, it goes hard. When the prohibition ended in 1931, West End's economy and the locals return to their roots in fishing. Today, fishing and tourism are the backbone of West End's economy. I stayed at the Old Bahama Bay Resort in West End that features colorful rooms, beachside activities, and water that is so blue, it looks fake. If anyone needs me, I will not be available.
