There is a little piece of Italy right here in Chicago's Gold Coast at Osteria del Pastaio. It's a traditional Italian restaurant that focuses on house-made pastas and a wide selection of wine. They also pride themselves on using the freshest ingredients. In fact, their pastas and breads are made fresh each day in-house. Their cheese wheel, though, is the star of the show and it's famous throughout Chicago. In a pecorino cheese wheel, the pasta is mixed with freshly shaved black truffles, mushrooms, sweet peas, and leeks. It's big enough for two people, but trust me, you will not want to share. And it smells so good. The flavors were just wow. I can easily say that it's one of the best pasta dishes that I've had here in Chicago. Reservations are not needed, but what is needed is this cheese wheel in your life.
