I'm giving the pastrami sandwich at Pieous an 8.7 out of 10, the third best sandwich in Austin. While Pieous is famous for their Neapolitan pizza, true barbecue connoisseurs know it for its elite sandwich. There's a reason, the owners bought the old Cartwright's Bar-B-Q and the smoker came with the place, so they put it to work. Brisket cured for 20 days and smoked for 14 hours in-house, piled half a pound deep on their sourdough with homemade whole grain mustard. This isn't mass-produced pastrami that you've seen on countless food shows. This is small batch, so go early and you'll be in heaven.
