This is St. Louis Cemetery number three, and it's one of the largest cemeteries in New Orleans. you're seeing is just one of its many avenues lined with generations of family tombs. At first glance, it's easy to see rows of marble and stone. the longer you look, the more you begin to see that every name carved into these tombs belonged to a real person who became part of New Orleans' story. more time I spend walking these avenues, the more I'm reminded that cemeteries aren't really about death. They're about history, memory, and the people who came before us. Every inscription is the name of someone who helped shape New Orleans in ways we'll probably never know. cemeteries aren't places where history ends. places where memory continues.
