Today, we're trying D-Place in Fullerton, California. We started with their fried calamari. It's literally a whole squid fried to a golden perfection. The squid was cooked so nicely, definitely no regrets ordering this after tasting how good it was. The main event was the OC Galbi, their take on LA Galbi. If you know, you know. The marinade was delicious, and the meat was so tender and juicy, paired with their sauce that resembled chimichurri. Wow, just wow. We also tried their pasta. We got their pescatore and their rosé pasta. Not all fusion spots nailed both sides of the coin, but this is D-Place that did, pun intended. The seafood was cooked really nicely in both dishes. The sauces were tasty, but if we had to pick between the two, we'd choose the rose. We finished up their meal with their hot duck ice cream, which is a sweet pancake with brown sugar syrup filling. We were so surprised that the pancake is not your typical pancake. Look at that. It resembled some sort of mochi texture, but it was a perfect mix of sweet and chewy, and man, I'm not doing it justice. You just have to try this dessert for yourself. And I know we personally struggle with quality places that open past 9 p.m. in the OC, but this spot is open until 12 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, which is perfect. 1000% we'll be back.
