Hey, next stop at my Italy food tour, the beach city of Salerno, and one of the best pizza spots in town, Glee Esposito. Located near the marina in Via di Roma, this restaurant offered a refreshingly upskilled take on the classic Neapolitan-style pizza. Here, the crust on the margarita pizza was soft and thin with an airy, crispy, crunchy outside. The fior de la cheese pulled on the inside mixed with a sweet pomodoro sauce just melted in your mouth. This was a simple classic pie done perfectly. I also tried a pie with fresh spicy naduja sausage and salami. The spice and oil from the naduja gave the cheese a fiery kick which was just outstanding. And mixed with the fior de la cheese once again, this was an amazing pie. And just check out that sausage. Finally, I couldn't leave without trying their version of Pizza Frida, fried pizza. The fried dough had an amazing crust stuffed full of meat and melty ricotta cheese that was just outstanding. If you're ever in Salerno, check this place out.
