Today, we're back at Gem Dining to try some of their new menu items while getting some of the old ones, because why not? We started with four of their appetizers, roti shanai with butter chicken curry, Malaysian filet salad, lomo sultato octopus, beef carpaccio. The roti shanai was so flaky and soft. The salad was very refreshing with the mint and papaya. The lomo sultato was such a unique dish to experience with the octopus, but our favorite of all the appetizers, the beef carpaccio. Such an explosion of flavor. So, so good. 10 out of 10. Then we moved on to the mains. Eight ounce filet mignon. Everything on the filet mignon plate was cooked to perfection. Between the pasta and the filet mignon, we'd have to go filet mignon all the way. Lastly, we ended with a couple of desserts. We tried their staples, sticky toffee pudding, and a new menu item, the Thai cream puff. Wow, what a show. And the dessert itself was delicious. Such a well-crafted balance between the sticky toffee pudding, cream, and ice cream. On the other dish, although we didn't love the cream puff itself too much, we did love the caramelized bananas that came with it, and the Thai tea flavors really came. Man, Jem always hits the spot for us, so you know we'll be back.
